The person requesting this service must be the living taxpayer whose own IRS records are being requested and reviewed and must have the legal capacity to enter into the Service Agreement and provide the required IRS authorization. WHY CONSIDER A REVIEW?

How This Service Can Help

An IRS Account Transcript can contain important account activity that is difficult to interpret without tax experience. A professional review can help you understand what the IRS record shows and whether anything may warrant attention.

  • You received an IRS notice or have an IRS concern.See what the IRS Account Transcript shows for the tax year involved and whether the account activity helps explain the issue.
  • You are concerned about an older tax year.Review the available IRS account history for a selected year to identify significant activity that may still matter.
  • You want to understand payments, credits, penalties, assessments, or other significant entries.Receive a plain-English explanation of material account activity shown on the transcript.
  • You are considering tax-resolution help.Learn what the IRS account record shows before deciding whether a separate tax-resolution engagement may be appropriate.
  • You want an independent professional review before taking the next step.Have an Enrolled Agent analyze transcripts obtained directly by the Firm from the IRS and provide a written report.
  • You want greater clarity or peace of mind.Find out whether the reviewed IRS account record shows significant activity that may need attention, rather than trying to interpret the transcript on your own.

The review is informational and focused on the IRS Account Transcript. It does not replace tax-return preparation, a comprehensive tax-return audit, or IRS representation, which require separate services when applicable.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER ACCEPTANCE

Verifyle Access, Payment & IRS Authorization

If the Firm accepts your request, the next steps are handled through secure systems. Knowing what to expect in advance can make the process easier.

1. Verifyle: secure access and payment

The Firm will invite you to its secure Verifyle portal. The Verifyle invitation email confirms that your Request for Services has been accepted. The email will include a link to access the portal. If you are new to Verifyle, follow the on-screen instructions to establish access to your account and create your password when prompted.

Payment for this service is also made through Verifyle. After the Firm accepts your request, follow the payment request provided through Verifyle. The Firm uses Verifyle for secure client communications, payment, and the exchange of requested documents and information.

If you do not see the Verifyle invitation or notification, check your spam or junk folder. Keep your Verifyle password confidential. Hawthorne Accounting Services LLC does not need your Verifyle password and will not ask you to provide it.

2. IRS Individual Online Account: approving the authorization

The Firm generally uses the IRS Tax Pro Account process to send a Tax Information Authorization request to your IRS Individual Online Account. The authorization allows the Firm to obtain the IRS information needed for the review; it is not a power of attorney and does not authorize the Firm to represent you before the IRS.

  • If you already have an IRS Individual Online Account: sign in after the Firm tells you the authorization request has been submitted, locate the pending authorization in the Authorizations area, review it carefully, and approve it if the information is correct.
  • If you do not yet have an IRS Individual Online Account: the Firm can submit the authorization request before you create one. You will need to create/access your IRS online account and complete the IRS identity-verification process before you can view and approve the request.
  • Important: the taxpayer address entered in Tax Pro Account must match IRS records.

Approval through the IRS Individual Online Account is an electronic authorization and is generally processed in real time. If the Tax Pro Account method cannot be used, the Firm will provide instructions for an alternative Form 8821 authorization method.

For jointly filed returns: when authorization is needed from both spouses, each spouse must complete the authorization and identity-verification steps required for that spouse. The Firm will provide the applicable instructions.

How It Works

A simple process designed to protect sensitive information and keep the engagement clear.

1

Confirm Eligibility & Submit a Request

Confirm that you are a current New Jersey resident and the living taxpayer requesting review of your own IRS records, complete the short public form, and accept the Service Agreement. No payment or sensitive tax information is required.

2

Eligibility & Request Reviewed

I review the request before acceptance. Requests from non-New-Jersey residents, requests involving a deceased taxpayer, or requests from a person acting for another taxpayer are outside this service and do not proceed to payment or Form 8821 authorization through the normal workflow.

3

Payment After Acceptance

If accepted, you receive a Verifyle invitation email. The Verifyle invitation email confirms that your Request for Services has been accepted. The email also includes secure payment instructions through Verifyle. Payment may be made by ACH or credit card and is due within 5 business days. The payment should ordinarily be made by you, the taxpayer requesting the service, using a payment method you are authorized to use.

4

Secure Information & Authorization

After payment, provide the requested identity, document, and intake information securely through Verifyle. Unless Hawthorne Accounting Services LLC gives a different written deadline, requested secure intake information or documents must be provided within five business days after the Verifyle request is sent. Tax Pro Account is preferred; handwritten Form 8821 is also available, and either authorization method has its own five-business-day deadline.

5

Direct IRS Retrieval, Analysis & Report

Hawthorne Accounting Services LLC obtains directly from the IRS the transcripts used for every review after the required authorization is in place. Client-provided transcript copies may be supplied as supplemental information, but they do not replace the Firm's direct IRS retrieval and do not reduce the service fee. I then complete the Account Transcript-focused review and provide your written report and available supporting transcript copies. The written report is generally expected within 10 business days after all necessary IRS transcripts and other information reasonably necessary to perform the review have been received and you have completed all required steps. This is an estimated service period, not a guaranteed completion date.

Pricing

Simple, transparent pricing for a defined review.

Every pricing tier includes the same core services: direct IRS transcript retrieval by the Firm after authorization, Enrolled Agent analysis, a written report in plain English, available supporting transcripts when appropriate, the optional 20-minute consultation, and the included $50 administrative setup fee. For multi-year engagements, the review and written report cover all selected tax years.

+$100

Each Additional Tax Year

Add $100 for each additional tax year included in the same service request, up to six tax years total.

Includes all of the same core services listed for the 1 Tax Year package.

$250–$650

Multi-Year Totals

2 years: $250 · 3 years: $350 · 4 years: $450 · 5 years: $550 · 6 years: $650.

The $100 additional-year rate applies only to tax years included in the same service request. A later separate request is subject to the then-current one-year fee.

IRS transcripts themselves are generally available from the IRS free of charge. For this service, however, the Firm obtains directly from the IRS the transcripts used for the professional review. Client-provided transcript copies do not replace that retrieval and do not reduce the service fee. The fee is for the complete professional service—including authorization, direct IRS retrieval, analysis, interpretation, the written report, administration, and related services—not merely for obtaining transcripts.

Detailed Service Information & FAQs

Review these eligibility, authorization, and service details before submitting a Request for Services.

Your Own Records Only (New Jersey)

This service is for a living New Jersey resident requesting review of that taxpayer's own IRS records, generally involving Form 1040 tax periods.

Requests for deceased taxpayers or requests submitted on behalf of another taxpayer are not eligible. Estate, fiduciary, representative, business/entity, Form 1041, and Form 706 matters are outside this service.

Simple rule: The person requesting the service must be a current New Jersey resident, the living taxpayer whose own records are being reviewed, and have the legal capacity to enter into the Service Agreement and provide the required IRS authorization.

Can I request this service for a deceased relative or another person?

No. The service is limited to a current New Jersey resident who is a living individual requesting review of that individual's own IRS records. It does not accept deceased-taxpayer, executor, fiduciary, guardian, agent, family-member, or other representative requests.

What if I filed a joint return?

You may include an eligible jointly filed year if you were one of the spouses on that return. This engagement remains only for you. Your spouse is not a client or participant in this engagement.

Because the tax year involved a joint return, an IRS transcript for that year may inherently contain information relating to the joint return or both spouses. That does not make the other spouse a client or authorize the Firm to obtain the other spouse's separately protected taxpayer-specific information.

If your spouse wants an Account Transcript review, the spouse must submit a separate Request for Services and complete a separate engagement.

What if I already have IRS transcripts?

You may provide copies you already have as supplemental information through Verifyle after your request is accepted, but they do not replace the Firm's own retrieval from the IRS.

For every review, Hawthorne Accounting Services LLC must obtain directly from the IRS the transcripts used for the analysis after the required authorization is in place. This provides a consistent source for the records used in the review and helps confirm that the Firm is working from the IRS information available through its authorized access.

Pricing does not change: Having your own transcript copies does not reduce the service fee because direct IRS retrieval is a required part of the service.

IRS Authorization — How It Works

Preferred: IRS Tax Pro Account

Hawthorne Accounting Services LLC submits an electronic Tax Information Authorization request using information you provide securely. You then sign in to your own IRS Online Account and approve it. Approval is due within five business days after you are notified that the request is ready.

The IRS may leave an unapproved request available for up to 120 calendar days, but that does not extend the Firm's five-business-day service deadline. Never provide your IRS username, password, or authentication codes.

Alternative: Handwritten Form 8821

You must personally review, hand-sign, and date the prepared Form 8821 and return a complete, clear PDF through Verifyle within five business days. The signature and date must be legible. A defective form does not satisfy the deadline unless corrected in time or by a replacement written deadline the Firm provides. The taxpayer should retain the original signed Form 8821.

Before choosing this method, make sure you can create a clear PDF of the signed form. Form 8821 is a Tax Information Authorization, not a power of attorney.

Who authorizes access: The authorization comes from you, the living taxpayer receiving the service for your own records. Mark R. Mazziotti, M.A., E.A. is the IRS tax information designee.

Prior Tax Information Authorizations: This service does not preserve prior Tax Information Authorizations. If IRS Tax Pro Account is used, prior authorizations for the same authorization type, tax matters, and tax periods are revoked under IRS procedures. If handwritten Form 8821 is used, the Firm will not check line 4 (Specific Use) and will not use the line 5 retention procedure or attach a prior authorization for retention; IRS revocation rules will apply. If you need a prior Tax Information Authorization preserved, this service is not designed for that requirement.

Important Service Information

  • The IRS Account Transcript is the primary document professionally reviewed.
  • Other available IRS transcripts may be obtained as supporting records but are not separate comprehensive analyses unless the report expressly says otherwise.
  • Tax returns and source documents are not audited or comprehensively reviewed under this service.
  • The written report is generally expected within 10 business days after all necessary IRS records and Client information are received and required Client steps are complete. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed completion date.
  • The service includes one optional telephone consultation of up to 20 minutes to discuss the completed review and written report. It must be requested, scheduled, and completed within 10 business days after the report is provided. If you want the consultation, request it promptly through Verifyle and provide the questions or topics you want to discuss so there is sufficient time to schedule and prepare for the call. The consultation is one session and may not be divided into multiple calls.
  • The $50 administrative setup component is generally earned when the engagement is accepted and full payment is received. The full accepted fee is generally earned once substantive professional analysis begins, subject to the Service Agreement and applicable law.
  • Tax resolution, IRS representation, amended returns, and other additional work require a separate engagement.

Secure Intake & File Requirements

Sensitive information is requested only after acceptance and payment.

Secure deliveryIdentity, tax, and authorization information is provided through Verifyle—not the public form or ordinary email.
5-business-day defaultUnless a different written deadline is given, requested secure intake items are due within five business days.
File formatsTax and signed authorization documents: PDF. Government photo ID: PDF, JPG/JPEG, or PNG.

Information You Must Provide After Acceptance and Payment

To complete identity verification and prepare the IRS Tax Information Authorization, you must provide the following information and documents securely through Verifyle within the applicable deadline:

  • Your full legal name exactly as it appears on IRS records.
  • Your Social Security number or ITIN.
  • The address currently shown on your IRS records.
  • Your current mailing address, if different from the address shown on IRS records.
  • Your daytime telephone number.
  • A clear copy of a valid government-issued photo ID.
  • Confirmation of the tax years being reviewed.
  • Copies of all relevant IRS notices or letters for the tax years being reviewed, if you have received any.
  • Confirmation that you understand and accept that this service will not preserve prior IRS Tax Information Authorizations.
  • Any additional information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or properly prepare and process the IRS authorization.
Do not send these sensitive items through the public Request for Services form or ordinary email. After your request is accepted and payment is received, Hawthorne Accounting Services LLC will request them through Verifyle or another secure method specifically approved by the Firm.

Start your Request for Services

This service is for New Jersey residents only and is limited to individuals requesting review of their own IRS tax records. Requests involving deceased taxpayers or requests submitted on behalf of another person are not eligible.

This short public form collects only contact, eligibility, and service-selection information. If your request is accepted, you will receive a Verifyle invitation email. The Verifyle invitation email confirms that your Request for Services has been accepted. Payment and sensitive identity or tax information are then handled separately through Verifyle.

You may include a jointly filed year if you were one of the spouses on that return. A spouse who wants an independent review must submit a separate Request for Services.

🔒 Do not enter Social Security numbers, ITINs, IRS account or notice numbers, passwords, tax-record dollar amounts, tax documents, or photo ID in this public form.

The Verifyle invitation email confirms that your Request for Services has been accepted.

Eligibility Check — Required Before Continuing
